Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis, other Bills players miss practice for COVID-19 reasons

On Tuesday, at least five Buffalo Bills players missed practice due to COVID-19 reasons.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Davis and Beasley must be away from the team facility for at least five days after being in close contact with a Bills trainer. This means that both Will miss Saturday’s pre-season match against Buffalo, which will be played at Green Bay Packers.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity to the AP because the Bills had not yet commented on the New York Daily News’s reporting.

Leslie Frazier, Bills’ defensive coordinator, didn’t go into details when he said that linebackers Matt Milano (and A.J.) were not available for practice. Klein, as well as Star Lotulelei (defensive tackle) were not able to practice because of COVID-19. Frazier stated that he wasn’t sure how much time defensive players would lose.

The person stated that both Beasley and Davis were negative for COVID-19, but they had to leave the Bills facility to follow the NFLPA’s five day re-entry protocol before they could rejoin the team.

Unvaccinated players will not be subject to the so-called five-day return to play cadence. The unvaccinated player is tested every day, while the fully vaccinated player must be tested once a week.

Beasley has been vocal in his criticism of vaccinations as well as the league’s COVID-19 policies. After the NFL and NFLPA had announced new rules for unvaccinated and vaccinated players, Beasley threatened to retire.

In opening training camp, he read from a statement that repeatedly mentioned a lack in transparency and information about vaccinations. Beasley’s comments were contrary to statements made by Bills coach Sean McDermott. McDermott has stated that the team has done everything possible to educate its players.

Separately, the Bills have released five players. Tyrell Adams is a free-agent addition to the offseason and Tyrell Adams was a linebacker who had spent the past three years with Houston Texans. Receiver Lance Lenoir was also released along with tight end Bug Howard and safety Tariq Thomson. Tyler Gauthier was an offensive lineman.
